Ellen MacArthur Foundation finds strong support for reusable aluminium packaging

Sian Sutherland, co-founder, A Plastic Planet & PlasticFree, said it was important to create a multi-use system – and that industry is ‘finally waking up to the enormous opportunity of returnable standardised packaging’.

“This is the moment industry have the power to truly collaborate, sharing investment and therefore sharing risk.  If you can save on plastic and carbon taxes, achieve your ESG targets and build stronger loyalty with your consumers, it’s a no brainer to change the system not just the packaging material now. New research from Reposit shows that over 60 percent of shoppers would actually switch brands to buy returnable versus single use. That’s a risk no business should countenance when the upsides to both their own and the environment’s bottom line.”
